I was there for about a day a few years ago but it was amazing. Yes, expensive but quirky and cool! I didn't think I'd like it, but it was great. :) Hope you like it & all goes well!

I'm in santa cruz about 45min south of s.f.Lived bay area all my life and would recommend it being an artist just browse the gallerys it's home to juxtapoz magz. But I;d live in a coastal town close and visit it'll be cheaper you'll be able to park and in minutes you can away from the rat race!

greenville tx. rent is $450 for a cheap place. weather changes faster and more often than a woman changes her mind. All the cool art events are 30-45min away. but if you're interested in ArtLoveMagic its close enough with the hassle of traffic.

I live in the city and attend AAU currently. I love the city it's a really chill place and very art centric. It's very expensive if you live in the city area, if you live in the the Mission or other areas outside of the city it's not too terrible in terms of rent. I'm really happy with the school as well, I am going for a traditional illustration degree and couldn't be happier with the program. If you have any other questions let me know and I'll help out if I can.

San Francisco's a bit over run. You might find some cheaper and more interesting/inspiring places in Oakland. Just BART into SF when you want to hang out there. SF is one of those places that are much better to just visit or hang out in.

I'm moving there in August but I'll be living in a dorm so I'm not to sure on prices. If I had to guess I think the downtown and bay area is about 2000 - 5000 a month.

I'm in Marin county just on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge. It's just as expensive here and we don't have the benefit of hopping on the muni system so every time we go into the city, we have to drive and then search 30 minutes for a place to park. That, or pay $20 for 3 hours of parking in a garage. If my girlfriend didn't work in Marin I would prefer somewhere in the city. San Francisco has some of the best restaurants on the planet! and, I love Japan town!

I used to live in that area and loved it!!! I hope to move back.

Rent is high. Even if you get out of the city, it's pretty high. But, it's manageable. Really depends on what you need.

The weather is a little crazy. Mornings you have the marine layer and typically even fog, but that all burns off fairly quickly. After that, it's usually clear. A decent amount of rainy and windy days (and it can get pretty extreme on both counts), but it almost never gets too hot. Occasionally a bit cold, but not typically.

It's also the home of the Isotope, which is the coolest comic retail store in the universe. Plus two comic conventions annually (Wondercon and APE) plus one in San Jose (Supercon). There are also anime conventions of various sizes. The largest (as far as I know) is in San Jose. The name escapes me at the moment.

You're also a drive down I-5 to San Jose. The flight down south is a little over an hour, so driving takes a little time. But it's a straight shot.

I don't know on studios in the area. I know their are some video game developers in the city. Otherwise, no clue.

Hope that helps
